Homeschool Resources// Activities While Your Children Are At Home!

In the wake of Covid-19, there are so many of us who will have our children at home for the coming weeks/months because of school closures and social distancing. A lot of you may be stuck indoors with small children and trying to keep your kids busy while school is canceled, and were not prepared to homeschool for weeks. As a new homeschooling mom who has done lots of research since we made the decision to homeschool last year, I wanted to put together some of my favorite resources in hopes that it will help any of you mamas/dads who are home with your kiddos right now! First of all, ENJOY it!!! I would really encourage you to relax and enjoy the time at home with your kids and consider spending time interacting in meaningful ways while they are home. Read to them every day, bake together, watch some good movies, get outside together, go on walks, craft together, play board games, paint, try new recipes and have them help, read outside, have outdoor backyard picnics, build forts, have conversations, catch bugs, watch documentaries, relax and be still, and take naps and cuddle those babes if you can. I totally get that it is HARD and it is stressful, and hopefully some of these resources and activities can help relieve some of the stress and anxiety you may feel. We are all in this together!

Just a reminder, homeschool is NOT the same as public school. You do NOT have to recreate public school in your living room. As a matter of fact, do NOT try to replicate public school at home. That is the beauty and freedom of homeschooling! 🙂 You don’t have to feel pressured to do every single thing, every single day. Please don’t put that pressure on yourself. If you read to your child for 30 minutes, that is plenty and you are doing a great job. You do not have to be an expert or have a teaching degree to teach your children at home. Take this time to just BE with your kiddos, and take or leave these resources as you wish. This is a time to soak up the joy of learning as a family. In most cases, your kids can learn together, even across different ages and grade levels. You can learn with them too, mama. I really would love to speak freedom over your hearts- you do not need a rigid schedule or worksheets or book curriculum to teach your kids. Be easy on yourself. YOU CAN DO THIS!

Rooting for you, mama!!
